Issuance of a Work Permit
Application dossiers for work permit include the following documents:
- Business license/investment certificate of enterprises, representative office operation license …
- Two 4cmx6cm photos (white background, without glasses)
- Certified copy of passport
- Form of the official letter approving the recruitment of foreign laborers
- Form of the application for issuance of a work permit for a foreigner
- Degrees related to job positions in Vietnam
- Certification of experience of at least 3 years working overseas or certification of being an expert in the same position
- Foreign judicial records or Vietnamese judicial records with a validity term of 6 months up to the date of submission of dossiers for applying work permit.
- Certificate of health issued abroad or by some hospitals prescribed by the Ministry of Health in Vietnam; health certificate with validity period of 12 months

Re-issuance of a Work Permit
If the work permit is at risk such as loss, damage or information that needs to be changed/added, procedures for re-issuance must be conducted. Dossiers for the re-grant of a work permit comprise:

- Certified copy of passport

Renewal of a work permit
For work permits that are going to expired. Dossiers for the extension of a work permit includes:
- Business license/investment certificate of enterprises, representative office operation license …
- Certified copy of passport
- Form of the official letter approving the recruitment of foreign laborers, this document must be obtained 30 days before expiry date of the work permit.
- Form of the application for issuance of a work permit for a foreigner
- Related degrees
- Experience confirmation: If your current work permit has validity duration of 2 years, you only need to confirm one more year
- Certificate of health issued abroad or by some hospitals prescribed by the Ministry of Health in Vietnam (health certificate with validity period of 12 months)
Processing duration for re-issuing a work permit: 03 working days
Important points to notice when applying for a work permit
- Documents issued by foreign governments such as diplomas, certificates of employment, foreign judicial records … must undergo consular legalization and notarized translation into Vietnamese according to regulations.
- Your major specified in the degree and position in the certificate of employment in a foreign country should be related to the position that the applicant is going to apply for in Vietnam.
- Vietnamese or foreign judicial records are only valid for 6 months (up to the time of submission of the application for a work permit).
- A health certificate (medical examination certificate) is valid for 12 months.
